COMPETITIONS
For many German club participants the annual German academic competitions needs patient study and preparation. The regional competition (Sprachfest) is in San Antonio on the UT Campus. Here students check their abilities in numerous events: listening, grammar, vocabulary, and spelling tests, skits, puppet plays, duet acting, and even cultural competitions such as folk dancing, singing, and polka band. Students who do well at Sprachfest go on to compete at the state competition. Last year, Westwood won the first place sweepstakes award at the regional competition in San Antonio as well as first place at the state competition in Waco. Way to go!
