Hello,
Welcome back! My name is Matt Groff and I have the privilege of being the 11th Grade Principal this year. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone as well as just getting to know Westwood High School. Working at Cedar Valley Middle School (in Round Rock) for the previous 6 years, I have an understanding of how Round Rock operates, however high school will be a new experience for me. I am excited about this new opportunity and eagerly await the challenges and experiences this year will bring.
And now.... something about him:
I have been an Administrator for seven years in both Leander and Round Rock ISD. I have served as a Summer School Principal for three years in RRISD (two as a Middle School Principal and one as a High School Principal). I also spent 4 years in the classroom teaching students the subject of Science. I have been a team leader and department chair as well as a talented and gifted teacher. All 11 years of my education experience have been at the middle school level, (excluding summer school and the one year I was able to coach H.S. baseball and H.S. Basketball (girls). I had to give coaching and teaching up because my wife and I had our first baby girl. I now have two beautiful young ladies (Haley-9 and Hannah-7) both of whom are involved in sports (soccer, basketball, and hip-hop classes). My wife Christi and I have been married for 14 years. She enjoys a great book and I enjoy a great movie. I spend most of my time with family, either on the field/court, or in the water wakeboarding.
