Discovery Streaming support including troubleshooting, staff development and research are provided. This includes things such as play list development and sharing. Additionally our office is the contact for Discovery teacher and student passcodes. District produced videos can also be added to the Discovery website under RRISD as the search topic.
We provide duplication of self produced programs for school use. These are also $2.50 each. If they are being sold then make sure there are rights to sell them as a fundraiser. Fine Arts programs and year end DVDs for grade levels and athletic teams are examples.
IP based videoconferencing systems that can be plugged into any data drop in the school are available through our office. This will allow intradistrict as well as anywhere in the world live videoconferencing. We will deliver the equipment and set it up including making the connection. We can also stream any video conference that does not need to be interactive (Viewing the conference only) to your district computer via Windows Media Player.
We research copyright issues for any video or music selection. We have a blanket license to use any BMI artist's work as long as it is not for profit.
KLRU TV programs such as Reading Rainbow, Cyberchase, etc. are recorded if the programs have record rights. The programs are distributed to schools by tape or DVD. Teachers must e-mail their requests. The media, DVD or tape, costs $2.50 each. If the program is broadcast for another year you can continue to hold the program. We do allow staff to send us new blank tapes or RW DVDs with a copy of their e-mail. We use the honor system when the rights expire on a program you must destroy the DVD or erase the tape.
Access Channel and Board Meetings:
Our department manages and operates our access channel in Round Rock on channel 10 from midnight till noon. The School Board and Board Committee meetings are broadcast from our state of the art digital broadcast facility inside Round Rock H. S. They are also streamed live on the internet at http://www.roundrockisd.org/archive/livestreaming.htm
. They are linked a few days later on the district website.
Video production including research, writing scripts, shooting, editing and duplication of projects are also one of our scopes of work. The project must have a district-wide use such as staff development or be a program we can stream from our website for staff to view. Still digital photography is included in this work.
For schools built before 2008 we troubleshoot and train on the use of the video playout carts on each campus. We have an outside contractor that does work beyond simple troubleshooting.
When you have an issue where assistance is needed, email us the problem, teacher name, extension and room number and we will create a help ticket for the appropriate personnel. You will receive an email copy so you will know help is on the way. Our goal is to make the initial contact with you by the end of the next work day.
