The following SPHS girls have been selected to the 2007-2008 All-District Team:

Second Team:  Megan Jones, Senior; Ally Millard, Sophomore
Honorable Mention:  Carli Beckett, Freshman, Elizabeth Sohns, Sophomore
Stony Point Tennis Players Kyle Grandin and Michael Mawdsley win Boys' Doubles and are District Champions
Margaux Vatel and Anh Phan placed 2nd in Girls Doubles.
All four athletes will be going to Regionals to represent Stony Point...this is a FIRST for Stony Point Tennis.

 This is a first for any Stony Point boys basketball player to receive.

SP Baseball Player signed with Alabama Crimson Tide
Congratulations to our own Matt Baca, who signed a national letter of intent to play for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Baca is the starting offensive right tackle for our championship football team and he will perform as a catcher and first baseman as well as a slugger for our baseball team this spring. Matt has agreed to continue his athletic career at the University of Alabama as a baseball player.

Former SP Basketball Player is now an OSU Cowboy
Courtesy:  okstate.com, Release 11.14.2007:  Oklahoma State Head Coach Sean Sutton announced the signing of Demetrius Proby on Wednesday afternoon, the first day of the early signing period.  Originally from Round Rock Texas, a suburb of Austin, Proby attended Stony Point High School.  He was named the team Most Valuable Player and was a First-Team, All District selection, his senior season.  He was also named to the Austin All-Star Game in 2005.  "Dee is a very talented front-line player that we expect to come in and contribute to our team next year," said Assistant Coach Kyle Keller.  "For a strong post player, he has the ability to step out and shoot the three-point shot, as well as score in the paint.  His experience will also be a key addition for our front line next season."  Proby was also recruited by West Virginia, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Charlotte.

Fifteen athletes competed in the Chapter Winter Games with over 2,000 athletes, statewide in one of five sports: bowling, power lifting, volleyball, table tennis and figure skating.  Results:
Bowling, singles:  Mickey E., Community Works, 3rd Place
Power lifting:  JR Hernandez (SPHS):  Bench Press Weight - 165, 2nd Place; Deadlift Weight - 369, 1st place; Total = 534, 1st Place
Power lifting:  Jordan Svehlak (SPHS):  Bench Press Weight - 121, 2nd Place; Deadlift Weight - 254, 1st place; Total = 375, 1st Place
Power lifting:  Robert Knipe (Com Works):  Bench Press Weight - 137, 1st Place; Deadlift Weight - 242, 1st place; Total = 379, 1st Place

SPHS Swimming - District Swim Meet

Thirty two of the forty five swims were best times.
