Sommer News
Ride2Recovery rides by Sommer!
On April 10th, a group of cycling US
Veterans rode by our school. Their mission is to improve the health
and wellness of injured veterans by providing rehabilitation through
cycling. Even though we were cold and wet, Stallions young and young
at heart were out to cheer on our Veterans!

Reading Rally Celebration with BMX Show!
On March 8th, the students were given a
special show by a BMX bike team. Because of inclement weather
outside, they set up in the cafeteria and performed their stunts
indoors. It was a fantastic show!
Here is the team with the students who raised the most money for our
school.

Author Phil Bildner Visits Sommer!
Children's author Phil Bildner visited
Sommer on October 18th this year. He led a writing workshop with our
Fourth Graders and a presentation with the Fifth Graders.
Before he left, we presented him with a Sommer t-shirt.
He sent back pictures from the Brooklyn Bridge! Check it out!

1st Annual Freedom Walk!
On September 14th, Sommer Elementary celebrated our first Freedom
Walk. We invited special guests to our school assembly, made special
presentations to honor heroes in our lives, dressed in red, white
and blue and finished the event with a walk in and around the
campus. It was great to celebrate our heroes and we're looking
forward to celebrating again next year!
