Welcome to Great Oaks Elementary! I am ready for another WOW!!! year, and I am looking forward to meeting the new families who have joined the Great Oaks Community of Learners. This is my 13th year in RRISD. I have been the principal at Great Oaks since October of 2006, and this is will be my sixth year as an administrator. I earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Principal Certification from Texas State University. I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Learning and Development from the University of Texas at Austin. Hook ’em! Both of my children attended RRISD schools from kindergarten through high school graduation. I hope you feel, as I did, that your children are receiving an exemplary education through the opportunities provided in our district. Parent partnerships with the school are strongly encouraged at Great Oaks. There are many ways that we can use your time and talents to further enhance and enrich your child’s education. Please talk with your child’s teacher, or with the PTA, about volunteer opportunities that are available. You can also visit with our school counselors about becoming a mentor to a child here at Great Oaks or even at another campus in RRISD. We encourage you to think about ways you might be of service to all of the students here at Great Oaks. Drop in and visit with me when you are here at school. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all students and parents to another wonderful year of learning at Great Oaks Elementary. This is my first year in Round Rock ISD and my 12th year in education. I received my certification in Early Childhood / Elementary Education from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. After teaching 3 years at the third grade level and 2 years at the Middle School level, I received my Master's Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Houston at Clear Lake. I have had the privilege of teaching at multiple levels through 8th grade and also serving as an Assistant Principal both at the Intermediate and Middle School levels. My son is a senior this year at McNeil High School and is very much looking forward to the adventures and challenges ahead. Thanks to the high expectations for all students in Round Rock ISD, I have no doubt that he will graduate with the necessary foundation to be successful in the future. I am fortunate to be at Great Oaks Elementary. This campus is not only a place that makes learning exciting and relevant, but also one that makes the people within the walls feel like family. It is my responsbility to ensure that the teachers are supported in their teaching and the students are encouraged in their learning. This can only be accomplished with a solid partnership between the school and the parents. I welcome you to stop by and visit the office when you are on campus.
