Guidance
and Counseling
Guidance and Counseling services at
the Opportunity Center are available to every student. The
goal of the program is to provide individual and/or group
counseling as needed. The same standardized testing
available on the home campuses is also utilized at the
Opportunity Center.
Areas addressed include academic concerns,
self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, decision making, mediation and
personal concerns. Questionnaires are sometimes utilized as counseling
tools and are kept in confidential files. Services available include:
personal counseling, academic counseling, testing and interpretation,
vocational information, career and scholarship information, parent
assistance, follow-up student services, resource person for outside
agencies, and any other personal counseling as needed.
The counseling staff welcomes the
opportunity to meet with parents in order to discuss their child's goals and
please feel free to contact the counseling staff at 428-2900 in order to
arrange a conference. In addition to working with the students, the
counseling staff will be glad to provide parents and families with
information and further counseling services.
