Teacher of the Year for 2012-13
Kyle Murphy has been named Round Rock Opportunity Center's Teacher of the Year for 2012-13.  Mr. Murphy is a High School Art instructor and also teaches Social Skills at the RROC.

Mr. Murphy graduated from Texas State University in 2009. Previously, he served in the US Marine Corp. as a machinist. Mr. Murphy's combined industrial and art experience lends itself to student projects visible throughout the RROC, ranging from outdoor sculptures and a student-built gazebo to indoor, man-sized dinos in the lobby.

Mr. Murphy said he became a teacher to "make a difference, and "have impact on kids." There is visible evidence via numerous student projects that he is achieving both goals.

Green For Green
The Round Rock Opportunity Center was fortunate to receive grant funding for a second year for its gardening projects. Funds provided by Partners In Education will be used for hands on opportunities for students to work with plants, design gardens, measure and record growth, and explore the scientific, cultural and business aspects of the Round Rock local eco-system.
