Things to know
- The attendance clerk cannot change a teacher's attendance. You must contact the teacher that can verify a student's attendance
- Students that are more then 10 minutes tardy to class are counted absent. Only the teacher can tell if the student was present during any portion of the class period.
- Juniors and Senior can have 3 absences due to college visits per year. These visits will not affect exemptions or credit but must be documented with a note from the college.
- Excused absences can still result in loss of credit or loss of exemption status. The only absences that do not count toward exemptions are school-related activities, religious observances, doctor appointments, and college visits.
- Students that owe hours (even if they make up the hours) will be denied a TEA Verification of Enrollment required for obtaining driver licenses or renewals. Students denied a TEA VOE form can appeal the decision to the attendance committee (turn appeal letter into Dina Schaefer in the Grade 10-12 office).
- Excessive Absences can result in any, or all, of
the following:
- Loss of credit for a class, regardless of grade
- Truancy charges filed against the student
- Denial of TEA Verification of Enrollment (VOE) form
- Denial of exam exemptions
