What is Powelifting?
Powerlifting is a sport in which you compete in three different lifts as an individual against other people in your weight class, and as a team. The three lifts in which you compete are a squat, bench and dead lift. You get 3 attempts at each the squat, bench and dead lift. Three judges will watch you and either give you a good lift, or a no lift. For the lift to count, you have to get two of the three judges to give you a good lift. There are a number of things you can get a “no lift “ for (not following judges commands, not going low enough on a lift, etc.) if you don’t get any of your 3 attempts on a lift, you are disqualified. If you are still confused about our sport, but are interested in joining, we will explain in further detail.
