Dragon
(Yearbook)

Hello and thanks for visiting the Dragon Yearbook.

Students enrolled in the Advanced Yearbook classes produce the yearbook. The book for the current school year is scheduled for delivery in late August or early September 2008. The book is delivered in the late summer or early fall rather than the spring so that the staff can cover the entire school year including all of the spring activities such as prom, graduation, Project Graduation, and spring sports. These activities are excluded from spring delivery books since the final deadline for those books is early March.

Individual copies of the book are sold throughout the school year. The current price for the 2008 book is $70 until Spring Break. After the break, the book will go up in price to $75. Students can also have their book personalized with their name and can have up to two logos added to their personalization. The personalization and additional logos are $5 each. Students can order the 2008 book in the classroom or from Taylor Publishing at http://www.myyear.com. Only books ordered through the classroom will be mailed. The mailing cost is $10. Many seniors prefer to have their book mailed to their home instead of coming by the school to pick them up.

Also, we sell an autograph insert for $1. This packet consists of 8 pages for autographs that the student can then insert into their book and attach with a permanent adhesive backing.

Advertising is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the space allocated for ads is filled no other advertising will be accepted. The fee for all ads must be paid in advance, and checks may be made payable to RRHS.

Senior ads are sold to help finance the book and to give special recognition to seniors. Parents may purchase ads honoring their senior son or daughter for as little as $60. Prices increase in proportion to the size of the ad. Anyone interested in purchasing an ad may contact, Paul Schroter, Danyette Davis or Cassandra E. Syler, yearbook adviser, at 464-6038. Ads may be mailed or brought to Room 706 at the high school.

Ads in the Dragon are in full color. The price of ads starts at $60 for one block. This was quite popular last year, and space fills quickly.

Business ads are also available. A one-block ad may be purchased for $60, and a full-page ad costs $330.  Rates vary for other sizes. Interested buyers should contact Cassandra E. Syler, yearbook adviser, or Paul Schroter, Danyette Davis, ads editors, at 464-6038. Ads may be mailed or brought to Room 706 at RRHS.

For many years the Dragon yearbook has received outstanding awards on both the state and national level. Most recently the 2006 Dragon received an Award of Distinguished Merit from the UIL/Interscholastic League Press Conference (UIL/ILPC); Award of First Place with Special Merit from the American Scholastic Press Association (ASPA); an All-American Award with five Marks of Distinction from the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) and an Award of Superior from the Texas High School Press Association. Individual students have also won awards from UIL/ILPC, ASPA, Texas Association of Journalism Educators and Association of Texas Photography Instructors. The staff is currently awaiting results of judging on the 2007 Dragon.
