DRAGON BASEBALL

The Varsity Baseball team won its series with the Klein Bearkats after a really late night (early morning) win in game 1, losing game 2 and coming from behind in game 3 to win the series. We play the Woodlands Highlanders this week in a best of 3 series. Friday night's game has been moved back to Rudder High School in Bryan.

Game 1 - Thursday at 7:30 (L 0-4)
Game 2 - Friday at 7:00
Game 3 (if necessary) - Saturday at Noon
Ticket prices are $5 for adults, and $3 for students.
You can watch these games, as well as past Dragon baseball games via Webcast links available on the Dragon Baseball Web site.

TEXTBOOKS DUE

You may now begin turning in textbooks in room 106. Avoid the long lines and get it done early! All textbooks and calculators are due no later than May 31st. Late textbooks will incur a $5 late fee PER book. Seniors will not be able to pick up diplomas or transcripts until all obligations are cleared.

YEARBOOK DELIVERY

Yearbooks will be handed out on Wednesday during all lunches in the 100 building student center. Students MUST have a picture ID to pick up their book. If students miss the lunch time distribution, they may pick up their book in room 124 for the rest of the school year.
Some extra books are still available. They are $70 until Wednesday and then the price goes up to $80. Checks should be made payable to RRHS and brought to room 124. Books are available on a first come, first come basis.

GOLF PARENT MEETING

There will be a parent meeting for anyone interested in trying out for the golf team on Wednesday, May 22 at 6:00pm. We will go over the tryout format for next year and answer any questions that parents may have.

FINAL EXAMS AND EXEMPTIONS

The school year is drawing to a close so final exams are quickly approaching! Check out the links below to see the final exam schedule as well as instructions for exempting classes.

SENIOR INFORMATION

DRAGON FORCE HOURS AND CORDS "ALERT"

Honor Cords are now being handed out in the counselor’s offices starting Wednesday, May 15th, 2013. Student’s granted an extension, juniors planning to graduate early and seniors, new to the Dragon Force honor cord requirements, please contact Heather Holt at Heather@sth2.com , especially if you plan on submitting 80 hours earned specifically in the 2012-2013 school year. Dragon forms will be picked up and hours updated weekly in May. All Freshman, Sophomore and Junior hours are due by the last day of school, May 31, 2013.

CAPS AND GOWNS

The next month is going to fly by. Don’t forget to order your cap, gown and tassel for graduation. You can order online at www.texashj.com or in person at the Herff Jones office located at 2255 CR 172, Suite 307, Round Rock, Texas 78681. The gowns this year are a brand new design. Gowns from previous years do not match the new design and cannot be used to walk in the graduation ceremony. Caps and gowns will be available for pickup on Monday, May 13th in the 1100 Cafeteria from 12 to 2:30 pm. Questions are welcome at help@texashj.com!

SIGN UP FOR PROJECT GRADUATION

Project Graduation is a free all-night celebration for seniors the night of graduation featuring food, fun activities, music, prizes and entertainment. This year's Project Gradfuation party will be on June 1st and 2nd in the Round Rock High School 1100 building from 10pm to 5am. Click here for the registration form. All forms can be turned into counselor's offices. Forms turned in by May 15 will be entered into a drawing for an iPad to be given away during the Project Graduation party. IMPORTANT: Any student 17 or under that would like to ride the Mechanical Bull or the Zipline at Project Graduation, MUST HAVE A PARENT/GUARDIAN SIGN THE ATTACHED WAIVER AND BRING IT WITH THEM TO PROJECT GRADUATION. Students that are 18 and above will also be required to sign the waiver, but do not need a parent's signature. Waiver forms will also be available at Project Graduation at the registration table. PROJECT GRADUATION FUNDRAISERS

"FLOCK" a Friend with Flamingos
Flock a friend with maroon flamingos and support Project Graduation PG 13. For a donation of $25, a volunteer will place 8-10 birds in the yard of your choice for 48 hours. Volunteers Needed for Event
Parent volunteers are needed to help work the Project Grad celebration from 10pm to 5am. Parents can sign up for one or more shifts. Junior and other underclass parents are encouraged to sign up and get a bird’s eye view of what this celebration is all about. Junior parents interested in getting a start on next year are invited to gather and start planning. We need to fill the executive spots: President, Secretary, Treasurer, Fundraising and single events (Mums, Poinsettia/Tamale) etc. Spread the word. DRAGON EXPLOSIVE POWER CAMP

Does your student need something to do this summer? Here's an option - Round Rock High School's annual Summer Dragon Explosive Power Camp registrations are now being accepted through May 24th. Cost is $125. Camp begins June 10th - July 25th (Monday - Thursday) with the exception of July 1st - 4th.

Session I (7:00 - 9:00 a.m.) - Incoming 10th - 12th grade
Session II (9:00 - 11:00 a.m.) - Incoming 7th - 9th grades

JUNIORS – SAVE THE DATES!!!!

August 1, 2013 Colleges and universities begin accepting submission of applications for the fall of 2014 through www.applytexas.org. Begin working on the applications now so you can submit your applications in early August.
August 10, 2013 CTCL – Colleges That Change Lives – 43 private, well known colleges and universities from around the country – Free of charge -7:00 p.m. at Hilton Austin – for more information and a complete list of colleges participating visit www.CTCL.org.
August 12, 2013 College Summer Boot CampRound Rock High School 12:30 p.m.  This is an opportunity for seniors to have a hands on workshop for the Enrollment Process. Please note that students need to show up at 12:30 and plan to stay until 4:30. The program does not last until 4:30, but it allows time for anyone who has questions. The schedule will include an Application Workshop (students will fill one application out at a minimum), an Essay Writing Workshop, and a Financial Aid Workshop.
Students need to bring at least one essay and their Social Security Number. There will be six university recruiters helping students, regardless of the university the student is applying to. They will, however, be giving a 5 minute presentation each to give a small bit of information about their individual institutions. The Art Department would like to congratulate David Min for receiving a $ 500. Scholarship from RRAEA, Round Rock Art Education Association. David competed against other RRISD senior art students and won the top honor. Funds were raised through the sale of faculty 5 x 5 canvases. Please congratulate David on his accomplishment. His work, along with other student work will be displayed in the student center beginning on May 9 and will remain for the next week.

Golf

Please congratulate Barton Cheatham on a job well done in the Regional Tournament. Barton finished in the middle of the pack after two grueling rounds of play. There was a ton of competition as we're in the most competitive region in the state. Barton was up against numerous division one commits and a large number of other collegiate level golfers. He did a great job and it's all attributable to the effort and hard work that he's put in over the last few years.

Orchestra

The Round Rock High School Orchestra has competed in the National Youth Concert and has been accepted and invited to perform in Carnegie Hall, New York, New York on March 25, 2014. This is a truly prestigious honor and we are extremely proud of our orchestra program.

Congratulations to both the Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra that competed in UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest on April 17th. They received straight Superior First Division ratings and won a Sweepstakes trophy.

Congratulations to the Round Rock High School Orchestra who competed in the Ozark Showcase of Music Festival in Branson, Missouri on Saturday, April 13th. The orchestra received straight superior first division ratings won Outstanding in Class and Overall Outstanding Orchestra.

Softball

Congratulations to Lady Dragon Softball for beating Cedar Ridge to clinch their 3rd straight District title! Way to go ladies!
