Capital MetroRail being tested near McNeil -

The new high speed Capital MetroRail is now being tested, and will begin passenger service for Central Texas soon! This train will be much more frequent, faster, and quieter than a freight train, and will be traveling through neighborhoods and past schools. Visit: www.stayoffthetracks.com or www.oli.org for more information. As a driver, please remember:

Never stop your car on the tracks when stopped at a red light near train tracks.

Don't anticipate lights or creep out at rail intersections - and never, ever drive around the crossing gates.

Be careful turning across train tracks - it's where more accidents happen.

Never race a train to a crossing - you will never have a second chance if you lose and even it you tie, you lose.

Expect a train on any track at any time - if a train goes by at a multiple track crossing, watch out for a second train on the other tracks, approaching in either direction.

Always expect a train at every highway-rail intersection. Freight trains do not travel on a predictable schedule and schedules for commuter trains change
