Important Notes from the Nurse

Students with a temperature of 100.4 or higher degrees, or above will be sent home from school.
To prevent the spread of Communicable disease, ill students must be symptom and fever free without fever reducing medications for 24 hours before returning to school.
Thank you for helping keep our students healthy.

Control of Communicable Diseases
The school nurse or health assistant may exclude from school any student suspected of having a communicable disease.

Emergency Care
Students ill with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or above will be sent home. To prevent the spread of communicable disease, ill students must be symptom free and fever free without the use of temperature reducing medications for 24 hours before returning to school.

General Health
Please provide written notification to the school nurse or health assistant if your child has specific health problems.

Head Lice Control
Lice examinations will be made periodically at all elementary schools. The nurse will contact parents of the infested children about treatment. Infested children shall be removed from school until proof of treatment is established and children are free of lice.

Information Update
It is important that the registration form data be kept current. Please notify your child's school immediately of any change of phone number, address, alternate contact persons, or medical conditions. This is particularly of concern with regard to contacting you in case of an emergency.

Medication
We cannot provide medicines for students. Parents must provide any medication needed during school hours or kept for emergency use. When medicine must be at school, Texas law requires that it be furnished in its ORIGINAL LABELED CONTAINER with the parent’s signed WRITTEN REQUEST and DIRECTIONS. The container, and your notes, must include: student’s name, name of the medicine, purpose of medicine, dose, time of day or when it is needed, and how the medicine is to be taken. Include telephone numbers where you can be called if there are concerns.

THE SCHOOL REQUIRES THAT ALL MEDICINE BE CHECKED INTO THE OFFICE. Please do not let your child carry medications to school. It is best if an adult brings the medication to the nurse. Medication forms are available in the nurse’s office and the school office.
