Hour Log All
students are encouraged to complete a minimum of
30 community service hours each year at Grisham
Middle School. Students will maintain
records of their completed community and service
hours on the log sheet signed by the service
recipient. Teachers will verify hours
monthly throughout the school year.
Student are to remember that
the main purpose of community and service work is
to help others while gaining a sense of social
awareness. Receiving monetary compensation
for the experience is inappropriate.
Suggested Service
Opportunities
- Volunteer service as a
member of a youth group or scouts
- School or community
beautification projects
- Serving the Red Cross or
other community agencies
- Assisting with school
special events
- Serving as a peer tutor
- Recycling or picking up
trash
- Assisting senior citizens
by running errands, helping with "game night", or
reading to them
- Working with the
handicapped
- Helping needy or homeless
persons/families
- Volunteer time in a
hospital, nursing home, or animal shelter
- Baby sit for free for a
friend or neighbor
- Rake leaves or mow for a
neighbor in need.
