At Grisham, the 2004/2005 MYP programme will
be implemented as a 3-year program starting with the 6th grade. The
curriculum includes 8 academic disciplines (or subject groups), 5
themes called the Areas of Interaction, and a personal project. The
Areas of Interaction will be woven into the instruction of all
disciplines. As the students proceed through the program, they will
produce work that will be incorporated into their portfolios. During
the last year of the program, the students can choose to work on a
personal project that is a culmination of all that they have learned
through the program and this project will be included in their
portfolios. The portfolios are then evaluated by the Grisham faculty
and can optionally be evaluated by the IBO evaluation committee. The
intention of this process is to cultivate independent learners and
international thinkers.
