What
are the benefits of an IB MYP education?
|
- Participating in our Middle Years
Programme reflects favorably upon a student choosing to pursue
Westwood's Diploma Program. The Diploma Program is an option for
students upon entering their junior year of high school.
- The student's
accomplishments, measured during the school's assessment process,
are recorded by the school in a portfolio of achievement. The IBO
provides a portfolio for each student who completes the MYP. It
includes documents from the IBM as well as papers and certificates
from the school that reflect the contect and nature of the local
programme. The portfolio, which has a self-evaluation by the
student, may contain academic results, information about community
service, the personal project and extracurricular achievements. A
students achievements in subjects that are no part of the MYP may
also be recorded.
- Students engage in community and service
work and make it a habit to make a difference in our community. This
work may also satisfy service requirements for some universities.
- Schools often opt for an MYP certificate,
accompanied by a record of achievement. These are formal documents
limited to schools that elect to have their own assessment of their
students validated by the IBO.
