Benchmark scores for reading (that
I forgot to post in February – sorry!)
Reading:
8th grade average score =
79% [71% is the equivalent of
passing TAKS]
82% of the 8th graders
scored 71% or above on this benchmark in January.
7th grade average
score = 78% [69% is the
equivalent of passing TAKS]
6th grade average
score = 75% [64% is the
equivalent of passing TAKS]
If you have questions about
benchmark testing, please call or email me any
time. If you have a question or concern about
your child’s score, please contact the teacher for
more information.
Beginning in April, I will
list the benchmark average scores on the back of
your benchmark letter. Thank you to my Brown Bag
lunch group for this great idea (as well as many
others)!
Grizzly Paws Awards
Outside my office we have a
new award bulletin board. Students who are
exemplary models of the Character Trait and
Learner Profile for the month are selected by
their team teachers for the Grizzly Paw Award,
which comes with a certificate, a coupon for ice
cream from the cafeteria, and their photo (group
shot) on the bulletin board. Congratulations!

graders!!!!
97% of the 8th graders
passed their Reading TAKS test!!!
71% scored Commended!!!
We are planning an 8th
grade celebration hopefully this last week of
March. Watch your eNews and our website because I
will probably need some parent volunteers to help
with what we are planning. (Shhh – it’s a
secret!)
7th grade Writing
TAKS scores do not come in until the April test
scores come, so we will have to be patient on that
one. I can tell you that the 7th
graders worked very hard that day – you would
think they were writing novels the way they
attacked that test!
