About Us

Great Oaks Elementary

Great Oaks Elementary opened in the fall of 1997.

When this school opened, Matt Matthys (Currently the Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Support) was our Principal.

Our school is dedicated to Eugene Beck because our school was built on his ranch land. Mr. Beck was on the RRISD Board of Trustees for several years.

The GOE staff was housed at Brushy Creek for the first 3 ½ months. We moved into GOE in mid-November. The teacher’s lounge was in a half of a portable building. It was a tight fit but we became very close.

We could all fit in the cafeteria because we had around 400 students.  We currently have about 750 students.

Of the original teachers at GOE these teachers are still here:
Mrs. Ostrominski
Ms. Stockham
Mrs. Ching
Mrs. Day
Ms. Gillen
Ms. Pallick
Mrs. Harrison
Ms. Reat
Ms. Willis
