the Year, Susan Culpepper and Elementary Teacher of the
Year, Raine Maggio. |
May 8, 2007 - Raine Maggio of Great Oaks
Elementary and Susan Culpepper of Cedar Valley Middle School
were surprised with the announcement that they were selected
as Round Rock ISD’s Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the
Year Tuesday evening, May 8, at the annual Teacher
Excellence Awards reception. Both RRISD Teachers of the Year
will continue their own learning by teaching workshops and
sharing their experience with new teachers.
This year’s Teacher Excellence Awards reception honoring
educators and acknowledging their contributions was held on
National Teacher Appreciation Day during Teacher
Appreciation Week (May 7-11). The RRISD Education Foundation
and State Farm Insurance Companies sponsored the reception.
The Foundation provides cash prizes of $100 for each campus
Teacher of the Year, and $500 for each of the district’s
Teachers of the Year.
All schools in Round Rock ISD selected a Teacher of the
Year. From those nominees, the Elementary Teacher of the
Year and Secondary Teacher of the Year who will represent
RRISD in 2008 were selected. Round Rock ISD’s Teacher of the
Year program is affiliated with the state and national
Teacher of the Year programs. The goal is to select
outstanding classroom teachers who also are able to speak
for, motivate, and exemplify the contributions of all
teachers.
