Experiencing Space
Over the course of the year, the Deerpark Middle School 8th grade science teachers have been partnering with the Austin Nature and Science Center in Zilker Park to provide meaningful science experiences for some of our 8th grade students on campus.  The last fieldtrip involved visiting a portable planetarium, learning about how stars are created, doing a moon phase lab, and creating scale models of our solar system.  By the end, students were able to find specific stars in the planetarium using a star map and were able to name all of the moon phases.

Ms. Stultz and Ms. DeLaGarza applied for and received funding from Partners in Education to provide these experiences for our students!
