On this glorious March day, with the sun
shining and the warmer weather approaching, it reminds me
that spring is in the air.
With spring comes our state testing season, meaning
the TAKS test.
The TAKS test means different things to different people.
To our 8th graders, it means the test they
have to pass in order to go 9th grade.
To our teachers, it is the test that shows whether or
not they have effectively taught the state curriculum.
To our school, it is the test that determines our
accountability rating.
It has been no secret that Deerpark’s mission this
year is to be an Exemplary campus.
Our motto from the beginning has been “Ranger
Strong.” We want
our students to not only learn the curriculum, but to master
it and be prepared for whatever path lies ahead of them in
future years.
