Choir

A Story By: Heidi

Have you ever thought that singing and dancing was fun? Try choir! Choir is an awesome opportunity to share your talents in front of friends, parents, visitors, and more.

Fourth and fifth graders are able to do this activity. I hope that all will enter for this wonderful time in a singing group. On December 8th, the choir is going to perform for the school. That night, they are going to perform for everyone who wants to go to school later that night.

Deep Wood AP: Mrs. Wafford

Interview By: Stephanie and Ashleigh

How do you think the learning for students is going?

Deep Wood students are working hard and are excited to be at school.  When I walk into classrooms students are engaged in learning.  I would say that students are happy and willing to learn and grow.

How do you think education can improve? (If needed.)
We should always be improving education especially since there is always new information to be learned.  My focus is to continually improve professionally so I can help meet the needs of all students and to support teachers in meeting this goal.

Do you think the teachers need to improve on teaching?
It is an essential part of our job as educators to always look at best practices to meet the needs of all students.   A major advantage to working in education is that you are always learning and trying new things to help students be their best, whatever it takes.

How do you feel about the homework level?  Should it increase, decrease or stay the same?
Homework is an important part of learning.  It gives students the opportunity to practice at home so you can check your understanding, and it is a life skill for your academic career.  Parents get to know what and how you are learning in school, as well.

How do you like your job?
I love my job.  My favorite part is seeing students, teachers and students in the hallway and in classrooms.  An important part of my job is to help students especially when they need time to make good choices.  This benefits students so they can learn more and develop into a responsible and respectful person for today and the rest of their lives.  Another thing that I really enjoy about being an Assistant Principal, I love to learn!

D.A.R.E

A Story By: Caleb

On December 3rd, the fifth graders graduated from a special program called D.A.R.E. at 1:45 PM.
Drug
Abuse
Resistance
Education
DARE has taught us many things and we were glad to know what would happen to us if we did drugs. Did you know that 400,000 smokers die a year, and 3,000 nonsmokers die a year because of other people’s smoking? I was surprised to hear that. D.A.R.E. helped me understand about drugs and alcohol. I hope my education will help me in the future to stop a death.
