Homework… What Is Good About It?

A Story By: Whitney and Bailey

What  Is Good  About  Doing  Homework;

Homework is good because you learn something even better than you would without homework.  Homework is fun because you learn cool stuff.  You may not like homework, but now you can see why homework is important.

 If You Forget Your Homework:

If you forget your homework, you should put it in your backpack as soon as you get it.  Put it in your backpack after you are done.  If that does not work, write a note.  Make sure you double check for your homework before you leave school and before you leave home.

Consequences If You Forget Your Homework:

If you forget your homework, you will get bad grades.  You will have to miss recess to redo it.  If you continue to forget your homework, you could get grounded for a week.

What Do Students Think About Homework?:

Seven out of thirteen students like homework.  Six out of thirteen students like math homework.  Two like spelling. One likes science and four like reading. Nine students out of thirteen want less homework.  Four like homework so much that they want more homework!!!  Four students want their homework amount not to change.  What do you think about homework?

Bat Invades Deep Wood Cafeteria

A Story By: Erin

The cafeteria will never be the same. I can’t believe a bat deliberately flew into our cafeteria! My friend Erin Risinger saw the bat swoop down in the cafeteria. This is what she said:

“It was small, and blackish-brownish. It was really fast, you wouldn’t be able to catch it. It kept to itself up near the ceiling, but the principal still was afraid the bat would give us rabies or something. That’s why we got the liberty of eating in the classroom. “

Our principal, Mrs. Perkins, had the bat removed from our campus. What an interesting day indeed.

Read It Forward: The Book FOUND

A Story By: Margaret

This thrilling and page turning book is about a thirteen - year-old boy named Jonah that has already known he was adopted but had no idea it was going to change his life forever. Then he and his friend Chip, who is also adopted, began getting weird letters. They say “you are one of the missing,” And “Beware! They’re coming back to get you.” Jonah, Chip, and Chip’s sister Katherine come across a mystery that involves the FBI, a huge smuggling operation, an airplane that appears out of nowhere, and people who seem to disappear and reappear at will! The kids find that they are stuck in the middle of a battle between two opposing forces that want very different things for Jonah and Chip. Do Jonah and Chip have any say in this? What should they choose if both choices are flat out terrifying?

The cool thing about this is when you read it you take a survey about the book then you get a cool dog tag with “I AM ONE OF THE MISSING” engraved on it.

First Day of Third Grade

Cooper’s First Day
My first day of school was pretty good, I’m in third grade. My teachers name is Mrs. Nichols; she is a good teacher. On the first day of school we learned about all the rules. I already knew all of them because I’ve been at this school for three years. My favorite subject is math and I’m sort of a math wizard. My favorite special would have to be art. I think that the cafeteria food is good. I like when they serve pizza on Friday. My favorite book is the Eragon series.

New Kid On Campus Stories

Johaun’s First day
My teacher’s name is Mrs. Doyle. So far she is a pretty good teacher. I came from Galindo Elementary. I have made a couple friends and their names are Caleb, Patrick, Heather, Benjamin, and Jake.  So far I have learned how to multiply double-digit decimals.  My favorite subject would have to be math. My favorite book would have to be the ‘Hostile Hospital.’  My favorite special is PE.  I like the cafeteria food; it is pretty good. My favorite dish is hamburger.

The Food Drive Challenge at Deep Wood

A Story By: Johaun

Delicious food is probably what you are thinking, but it is not just that. Every year around Thanksgiving each school district, in every city, does a food drive to help soldiers in the war, hospitals, and people in need. Someone thought about collecting food and this was a good idea. Peanut butter, vegetables, soup, and other foods will help a lot. Even toiletry donations help. Every day around the world thousands of people go to sleep hungry. So can you please help them by collecting food for them?  If you would like to volunteer in Round Rock check out this link http://www.servingcenter.org/
