About Us
Robotics Club is an organization open to all students at Cedar Valley
Middle School. Students who are interested in competing for the 09-10
school year are required to attend meetings on Thursday's from
3:40-5:30 (sometimes the ending time may vary), learn how to program Lego Mindstorms Robots, maintain
passing grades, not have behavior problems in school or during
meetings, and demonstrate the ability to work as a team. We will start
meeting in August to get ready for the First Lego League competition
during the mid year. After
competition, we will meet on Thursdays from 3:40-4:30 and will work on
discovering new skills and designs with the robot. The club sponsors are Mr.
Osborne and Ms. Ortega, they can be reached via email if you have any
questions.
During the past three years Cedar Valley has taken five teams to the First Lego League Competition. The Robojags and the Luddites represented our school for the '06-'07 season. The Luddites won a second place trophy for the research portion of the competition. Students decided to demonstrate how the outcome of the Alamo would have changed had Nano Technology (specifically, liquid armor) would have been around. During the '07-'08 season The Robojags 2.0 and The Decepticons competed against 60 other teams and did an amazing job. I'm really excited to have some returning team members to help our new team members along this year.
