National PTA Environmental Awareness Contest: This program is new to RRISD schools for 2007-2008. It is similar to Reflections: students may enter works in a variety of categories based on the theme, "What Can I Do?" Local judges will determine which works will move to the council level competition. From there, entries will be chosen to move to District, State and National level competitions. The categories for this contest are: Media Art (K-2nd grade only), Print Advertising, Newsletter, Op. Ed. Newspaper Article, Reporting Newspaper Article, and Photography. All entries will be judged as to how well they express the theme and whether they compel the public to make healthy changes to improve our environment. Up to three entries per grade per category will be selected to move to the council level competition. All entries are due by 3 PM Friday, January 25, 2008. Look for upcoming announcements soon. Specific rules and entry forms will be posted on the Kathy Caraway web site and will be available outside the school office in early December.
