Welcome to the Kathy Caraway Elementary 2008 Science Fair, coming on

Jan. 28, 2008!

Last year we had over 215 student exhibits, and we expect even more this year.

Registration forms will be sent home on Monday, Dec. 3 and the deadline for registration will be **Wednesday Jan 9, 2008**.

We are again following the guidelines of the Austin Energy Regional Science Fest for our event, so check out their site for information on types of projects and guidelines at www.sciencefest.austinenergy.com. Go to that site and select "Elementary Division' for tips and hints on possible projects. The three types of projects to think about are: (1) classification of collections (rocks, leaves, shells, etc), (2) demonstrations or models of science concepts (solar system, how a machine works, etc), (3) experiments showing the steps of the 'scientific method'. Participants in our Science Fair may choose to be judged and compete with other exhibits in their grade level, and some exhibits from each grade level will be selected to participate in the Austin Energy Regional Science Festival on Feb 22-23 in Palmer Events Center. Last year we had more than 125 exhibits judged, and 12 were selected to participate in the regional event. We welcome any parent volunteers to help with organizing the Science Fair or to help judge the exhibits!
