Canyon Vista Middle School PTAClothes Closet
Purpose
The Clothes Closet is designed to help those that are less fortunate in our own school district. Forms are generated by the nurses in each school for children who are in need of school clothes. The parents bring the forms to the Clothes Closet where they choose outfits and receive new socks and underwear, plus a coat and jacket for the winter. All clothing from the Clothes Closet is provided free of cost to the families in need.
Sponsors
The Round Rock Council of PTAs sponsors the Clothes Closet. The Council is made up of PTA representatives from all the schools in our district.
Each school has a school Clothes Closet chairperson for the school year. For the 2009-2010 school year, Canyon Vista's Clothes Closet co-chairperson is Lisa Mahendru, Lisa.mahendru1@gmail.com, 345-3663.
Donations and Volunteers Needed
Donations may be dropped off with the school nurse or you
may drop them off at my house. Please call at 331-1890.
Clothes Closet needs items for students in Kindergarten
through high school. All items MUST meet school dress code.
Socks and underwear of all sizes also is needed. However,
they must be brand new and in their original packaging.
Also, we need volunteers to represent Canyon Vista on our
designated work days which, typically, are the third
Thursdays of each month. The work shift is from 9:30
– 11:30 am. It is really an easy two hours of work.
Duties include sorting and hanging up the donated clothes,
and helping patrons find what they are looking for. You also
get to know and visit with the people you work with and meet
new faces every time you work.
