Studio Art

Studio Art 7/8

Prerequisites: Grade 7 or 8 standing

This course is an introduction to the basic principles of design, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, and textiles. The program also includes art history and art appreciation. The students work in a variety of media.  

This first year course is for 7th and 8th grade students. Students are expected to provide some of their own materials for this course.

Studio Art 8

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Studio Art 7 and portfolio review

This course extends art concepts learned in Studio Art. A variety of projects and materials reinforce the student's knowledge of the elements and principles of design.

This second year course is for 8th grade students. Students are expected to provide some materials.

Advanced Studio Art 8

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Studio Art 7 and portfolio review

This course is for advanced students who exhibit artistic skill, motivation, and self-discipline. Students examine and create art in a variety of media including advanced drawing, plaster carving, scratch board, carbon printing, batik, large ceramic pieces, and wall murals.

This second year course is for 8th grade students. Students are expected to supply some materials.
