Back to School - Monday, January 5
Semester Exam Schedule:
Teachers that administer semester exams are 8th grade and 7th grade
teachers of advanced classes. (Spanish, accelerated math, etc.)

Science Exams

Science Exams
Math and Science are given two days because they typically
have a longer exam and need two days to complete.
Social Studies Exams
LOTE Exams (LOTE Exams typically have more than one
component - writing, listening, speaking. Any component
can be administered the week prior to exams, if
necessary.)
Language Arts Exams (L. Arts Exams typically have
a writing component that can be administered the
week prior to exams, if necessary.) Electives Exams
Staff Development and No School for Students -

First Semester Ends - Friday, January 16
MLK Holiday - Monday, January 19
Spelling Bee: School-wide Final - Tuesday,
January 20, 6:00pm - 8:30pm, Cafeteria

Yearbook Order Information
The award-winning 120 page yearbook will feature stories and all
color pictures documenting the 2008-09 school year. We are also offering
icons that showcase different hobbies and activities for students for an
extra charge. There is more information about this on the
myyear.com website.
Calling All dads, grandads, uncles, step-dads and adult brothers....
Our first WatchD.O.G.S. meeting was a success! We are looking forward
to having our DADS begin volunteering at our school. If you are
interested in spending time at school, we would love to have you. Please

- RRISD Board approves Teacher Incentive Program - The RRISD Board of Trustees approved the District Award for Teacher Excellence (D.A.T.E.) grant at a called board meeting on April 10 and the district will begin implementing the three-year grant program to provide incentive pay to teachers across the district who positively impact student academic achievement. - Westwood named one of best high schools in US - Just days after learning it was listed as one of the Best Public Schools in Texas by Texas Monthly magazine, Westwood High School received another designation. U.S. News and World Report awarded the school a silver medal in its first ever ranking of America's Best High Schools. More

Acknowledgments - the Texas Education Agency released its
2006-2007 Gold Performance Acknowledgments (GPA). Round Rock ISD
has 93 percent of campuses, or 37 of 40 campuses, earn one or
more Gold Performance Acknowledgments (including Canyon Vista). More
