“Now Showing...BOOKS!”

Welcome back to the library!

Today begins “Now Showing . . . BOOKS!” our 2009 Canyon Creek Elementary Library Fall Enrichment Program for First through Fifth grade students.

Our Primary Objective for the Fall Program:
To familiarize the students with the books throughout the library.
To expose the students to several different genres.
To encourage students to not only read different types of books, but to read more.
To work in partnership with our teachers to meet minimum reading requirements
outside the classroom.

The students are asked to read a book that has been magically transformed into a movie, television show, or maybe a book they feel should be made into a movie.  But better yet, come read, and have a book come to life in your imagination.  On the reverse side, is the form you will completely fill out and have signed by a parent.  Return this form to the Library staff and we will write your name on a colorful “movie ticket” cut-out and place it on the display in the main hallway.  Also, when each student hands in their completed form to the library they may pick one prize from our ceramic popcorn box.

Ways to read:  Students may read aloud; students may be read to; and students may do individual silent reading as ways to complete a book from each of the designated genres.

Also, each student who completes the entire form on the back will have their name placed in a drawing to select a paperback book from the Fall Book Fair.  There will be a winner from each grade level.

The program starts today, Tuesday, September 8th, and ends at 2:45pm, Wednesday, October 14th, 2009.

Please, contact the Library at any time if you have questions 428-2815.
