Each first grade student
can earn up to five dog tags for reading at home. Beginning second semester,
a student may earn one dog tag for every 200 minutes that the student reads
at home (excluding homework). Your student's teacher will send a
reading chart home with the student. Just
have your child color in the number of minutes (in five minute increments)
that he or she reads and have your child return the chart when it is
completed. Remember that your signature on the chart is required for your
child to receive the dog tag.
Below is a
sample of the dog tag for first grade. It says, "Big Cheese Reader."
