November Newsletter
Wow! We have sailed into this school year and picked up velocity.
The first one-fourth of the school year is over and it seems time is
going very quickly. We would like to thank our wonderful parents
for the outstanding Fall Festival activities and baskets. Many
hours of preparation go into making the festival a success and the BPE
staff is grateful for all the effort. Each year we anticipate this
special event and know our families and students enjoy participating.
Enrollment is down slightly this school year. Our
current enrollment is 1018. This is still a large number of
students and we are still full since we lost three portables.
However, we have found a way to have a computer lab in one corner of the
library and our science lab is open again for student lessons.
These are two very important components of a child’s education and we
needed to have computers and science labs available to maximize student
learning.
Watch D.O.G.S. Dads have been on campus almost every
day since school started and we appreciate their dedication and presence
in our halls. The system in place to sign up several weeks prior
to arriving on campus for the day seems to be working and we appreciate
our dads following that procedure.
Ridgeview Middle School has had an outbreak of chicken
pox and the district has requested we send home a flyer with information
for all of our students. It should come to you in the Thursday
folder. We certainly do not want our students to suffer from this
preventable disease.
Please help us in welcoming a new first grade teacher to our staff.
Jennifer Glaspie has joined us to help with our large number of students
in first grade. She is working alongside Beth Wilhelmi and other
first grade teachers to provide reading and math support through group
instruction. Jennifer was at Blackland Prairie last year as a
student teacher in second grade and did a great job. We are
thrilled to have her join us this year.
I was made aware of a rumor floating around about guns
being found on our premises and the police being called. This is
not true. Toy guns were found after Halloween and turned in to the
office, but no real weapons have needed to be reported to police.
I’m certain you have all had a chance to meet your
child’s teacher(s) and talked with them about their goals for your
child’s education this year. Students and staff are all working
very hard to attain the goals they have set. Your support in their
endeavors is important to making the most of this school year.
Our website has many important dates posted on it, so,
checking it for information, as a regular part of your routine, will
keep you in the know as far as activities. As always, if you have
questions or concerns feel free to contact me at 424-8600 to arrange for
a meeting or to talk.
November is typically the time we stop to reflect on
the good things in our lives. As Americans we have much to be
thankful for. As parents we have much to anticipate with our
children. As a school we are enthusiastic to see the growth of
each child during the course of the school year and the accomplishment
of learning goals. As a community we are joined in the process of
creating a great place to live and rear our children. Thank you
for your support in all of these areas.
Have a great time reflecting,
Sue Hildebrand, Principal
