Important Dates and Procedures before school starts....

July 20th - August 24th
        New student registration:  Monday - Thursday, 8 am - 4 pm in the Registrar's Office. 
        Students who are coming from Grisham and Canyon Vista Middle Schools, along with    
        incoming Academy students, are already pre-registered.

Lockers, IDs, textbooks....

Students should come to Westwood during their designated time to pick up their locker, textbooks, and student ID.  NOTE:  ALL Westwood students are required to have a student ID.  Your initial ID is free; replacements are $5.00.

 All students parking on the campus lot must have a Westwood parking sticker
   displayed on their vehicle.  In order to purchase a parking tag, a student must
   show his/her driver's license, owner's registration with license tag and car
   description, and proof of insurance.  Junior and Seniors who purchased a
   parking tag in May must bring in their receipt of purchase.

 

August 21st   

New Student/Parent Orientation:  9 am - 10:30 am
Parents will meet in the student center and students will meet in the dining hall.  This orientation is for the students/parents who are new to the Round Rock ISD.  New students will get their lockers, schedules, and IDs following orientation.

FRESHMAN ORIENTATION  -   6 pm - 9 pm (Check in time 5:30 - 6 pm) 

"Fish Bowl" is an evening just for the new freshman entering Westwood. Students will begin with small group orientation   sessions with current  Westwood students, followed by evening activites that include a pep rally, school club fair, open gym
 and a dance with a D.J. Light refreshments and drinks will be provided.

 Parents: Please drop off and pick up students at the rear of the building, off Hymeadow. Students  who choose to leave after 7:00 pm MUST have a parent pick them up. Please arrive on time!
 

THIS IS AN EVENT NO FRESHMAN WILL WANT TO MISS!!!

    
 August 25th -

School Begins:  The first tardy bell rings at 8:58 am.  Students should be in their homerooms at 9:05 am  Schedules will be given out at that time.  Homeroom lists will be posted in the Student Center and by each grade level office.  Staff will be available to assist with directions.

First Day of School -  Each student will receive a "First Day Packet" of
                forms:  Emergency card, Insurance From, PTSA Membership Application,
                Reduced/Free Meal Application, and other information.  This year's Student/Parent
                Handbook will only be online, however you may request a hard copy from your  
                grade level office. 

In your packet will be the following forms to complete, sign and return to your studen's grade level office by August 26th:

                Handbook Verification Form
                Emergency Card
                FERPA
                Permission to Use the Internet

 

 September  14th -

OPEN HOUSE for All Parents:  6:30 pm in the Field House.  A general PTSA meeting will be held at 6:15 pm in the Field House. 
Meet your student's teachers and learn about course requirements and homework policies.  Then English Department's required reading books will be on sale by the PTSA throughout the evening. 
PARENTS ARE ASKED TO BRING THEIR STUDENT'S  SCHEDULE.  Schedules will be made available on the stage area of the Student Center; however, waiting for a schedule sometimes delays getting to class on time.
