The Talented and Gifted (TAG) Program provides services for students
identified as having significantly advanced general intellectual
ability and/or specific academic aptitude. TAG services are
available starting in Kindergarten. The campus TAG teacher
works closely with the grade level teacher to meet the needs of each
identified child. They determine the best learning plan for
the child including aligned TEKS-based lessons which explore content
in depth and in complexity.
Opportunities exist for students to engage in independent study
options that allow them to go into great detail in their areas of
interest and strength. Students may also compact and
accelerate through the curriculum commensurate with their abilities.
The
student goals for Gifted Education are:
► Thinking Skills
► Subject Matter Knowledge and Skills
► Research and Independent Study Skills
► Self-Concept and Leadership
Nomination for all students opens in November. Testing for all
students takes place in January.
