National Honor Society
National Honor Society accepts applications in late Sept. and early Oct. Induction to the Society happens a few weeks after this time. We only induct students into the NHS once a year.
Below are the qualifications:
- The National Honor Society at Stony Point High School accepts Juniors and Seniors who have at least a 4.0 on a 5.0 scale.
- Students also need to be involved in clubs sports, band, choir, orchestra and/or hold leadership positions in any school or community organization as soon as they leave middle school.
- Any Tigers in Service hours the student accumulates from the summer before entering 9th grade until their application to NHS as a Junior or Senior are counted.
- Going to summer camp for sports or fine arts, earning awards for 4.0, Tigers in Service, Perfect Attendance, or any other recognition is also considered.
- Academic Summer Programs are considered and contribute to a student's score.
- If the student attends ACC to take duel credit hours and/or holds down a part time job, this contributes to his or her total score.
- We deduct points from an applicant's total for any and every disciplinary action the student has received since they began high school.
- Points are given back for every semester the student has had with out disciplinary action. Examples are: Saturday School ISS Suspension Assignment to the RRCC
