Good Safety News!
No parking and 20 MPH signs are up on Indina Hills and Lisi Ann as promised by the city. They will also be moving the crossing guard from Lisi Ann/ARB to the front of the school on ARB--no tunnel necessary when coming from Morningside. We will post staff at the crosswalk exit behind the school in the afternoons to help students cross safely as well. The city was considering dropping the speed limit on ARB Aug. 6 which would take school zone traffic down to 20 mph. I have not heard the results of the meeting but the city representative felt sure it would be passing.
Speaking of safety--The city has not had any applications for crossing guards this year to man Avery Ranch Boulevard. Our guard in the back will take over the position at Indina Hills and ARB until those positions can be filled. It is possible there will be no guards in the front or the back of the school the first days of school unless we have applicants. If you are interested or know anyone who may be, please have them contact Mary Prambs at the Child Safety Dept., city of Austin Transportation Division at 512-974-7013.
