Bike Rodeo - Frequent Bike Rider Program
Upcoming ride your bike to school initiative called Freiker (Frequent Biker). After teaching a bicycle safety class to all students next Friday, January 29th, in PEWE, we will hold a bicycle rodeo Friday, Feb. 5 at 3:45 p.m. on the playground. The attachments below completely explain how the program works, provides a registration form that can be returned to school or brought to the rodeo and has a sample of a really neat poster promoting the event. A huge thanks to Danette Arrington, PTA; Anne Hoffa, parent support specialist; Robert Betts, Sommer Site Based Committee; and Lindsay Austin, PEWE; for leading the way in getting this effort up and running. Special thanks to Leslie Luciano from the Sports Cycle Shop for her organization and work to make Sommer the first Texas school to pilot the program!

Help fund an innovative classroom project...
The Round Rock ISD Partners in Education Foundation is currently seeking donations to fund an exciting classroom project at Sommer ES.
The Foundation is currently raising $1,200 to provide hands-on learning experiences while teaching problem-solving, critical thinking and teamwork skills through LEGO Robotics.
These important skills will prepare students to be more successful in math and science and potentially prepare them for a future in engineering.
Funds from this grant will be used to purchase 8 LEGO Mindstorm Robotics Kits.
This project will benefit 96 students in the following teacher's classrooms: Revathi Balakrishnan, Amy Stearns and Kelly Coggin.
The Education Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
