Cell Phone Policy and Procedures
RRISD policy is that cell phones are not to be on, visible, or audible during school hours.
- Cell phones must remain off during off campus times if the student remains on campus
- Cell phones may not be used by a student when driving (new state law)
- Cell phones may not be used by any person while in a school zone (new state law)
Cell phones can be confiscated and turned into the
student's grade level office. Cell phones can be picked up by a student or
parent at the end of the student's school day for a fee of $15.00.
Certainly there are emergency situations. We urge parents and students to
communicate with the school about special circumstances as early as
possible.
Students are always allowed to use the phone in any office to make calls to
arrange for rides or handle other personal matters. There is a phone for
student use in the main office.
Dress Code and Consequences
We believe there is a direct correlation between as student's dress and hteir attitude about school. With that in mind, we ask that students come to school in dress that does not distract from the student's main mission: learning. A complete list of dress code considerations can be found in the handbook, but these are the most commonly addressed issues for our students.
- Short shorts or skirts 9must be longer than finger tips)
- Low cut or sleeveless shirts
- Sagging pants that expose undergarments
- Clothing that promotes or advertises drug use, violence, or gang activity.
When students are found to be out of dress code, they will be asked to change their clothing. WE will ask a student to call home to provide new clothing if something cannot be provided by the school. We will make every effort to return students to their classrooms. We greatly appreciate parents' assistance in helping students chose clothing that promotes learning and maturity.
