A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF RRHS PARENT TEACHER STUDENT ASSOCIATION
A Note from the RRHS PTSA President
The RRHS PTSA is off to a strong start for the 2007-2008 school year --- membership is up and PTSA volunteers are assisting with many key activities at RRHS. Below are a few items that I wanted to highlight for the PTSA membership and the RRHS community:
1. FREE COOKIES FOR PUMPING IRON!!
That's right, you can get free cookies (and fruit juice) for pumping iron - human iron, iron in your blood. RRHS is sponsoring a blood drive on Tuesday October 30th. The whole process takes about 45-60 minutes, and you can do it during school.
Getting a needle stick is less painful than a paper cut, and a pint of blood can save up to three lives. There are some requirements that need to be met (age, weight, health), so put the date on your calendar, and get ready give your arm to help others.
RRHS had about 100 people donate last year, and the goal is to top that number this year. Invite your parents, neighbors and anyone else to come join the fun. You'll get some free cookies and juice when you're done, and you'll feel great.
2. THANKS FOR THE HELP - MORE STILL NEEDED
RRHS is still looking for volunteers to help a few hours each week in the front office. It's a challenging job answering phones, talking to parents and directing visitors to the right spots on campus. But, working the front desk is an excellent way to see what goes on during the day at RRHS. Your children will be proud that you're helping even though they might not admit it.
3. MEMBERSHIP IS GOING STRONG - MORE STILL NEEDED
The PTSA membership drive is still going strong. We've surpassed last year's enrollment, and the number continues to grow.
Membership has is benefits, and one of the benefits of being a PTSA member is getting discounts from Office Depot, Barnes and Noble, La Quinta, Enterprise, Southwest Airlines and more. You get discounts from these by making an investment in the PTSA for $6.50.
Thanks to generous businesses in the area that donated gift cards and services to be used to help expand our faculty and staff membership.
4. SITE BASE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
RRHS is looking for two members to be representatives for the Site Base ADVISORY committee which is designed "to assist the principal in implementing planning processes in accordance with Board Policy and administrative procedures." We will have an election at our next board meeting (Wed Oct 24 at 6pm), so please submit a brief background of your experience for consideration to RoundRock_PTSA@roundrockisd.org.
5. SUMMARY:
You can get more details on any of the above topics by dropping an email to RoundRock_PTSA@roundrockisd.org.
Regards,
Chad Chadwell
