Dear
Parent(s)/Guardian(s):
As you may know, Round Rock ISD in partnership with the
Austin Chamber of Commerce, 12 Metro Austin school
districts, area colleges/universities, businesses, and
community and faith-based organizations have scheduled
over 29 Financial Aid Saturday events during the months
of February and March throughout Metro Austin.
These events are
scheduled on Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at area
high schools. Round Rock ISD will hold Financial Aid
Saturday events on:
February 27 at Stony
Point High School in the Library
March 6 at Round Rock
High School in the Library
The primary purpose of
these events is to provide parents and students
assistance with submitting their college financial aid
applications and to provide consultation on the
financial aid process with trained financial aid
professionals from local colleges/universities and
business-community volunteers. Income tax-preparation
assistance is also available at select sites.
We are aware some parents
think they should not come because they do not have all
their documents ready or believe they might not qualify
for financial aid. If you do not have all your
documents, please come anyway so that we may help get
you started. We encourage all families to apply for
financial aid as there are some forms of financial aid
available that can only be accessed by completing the
financial aid application. We do not want you to
disqualify yourself by not applying. The state of Texas
also offers opportunities for undocumented students to
apply for financial aid. Please contact your school
counselor or college financial aid advisor for further
details.
We want to see you at the
next Financial Aid Saturday event. Services are free and
open to all high school seniors, college students, and
parents. We would very much like to see more Round Rock
ISD students and parents take advantage of this great
opportunity. Remember, the earlier you apply, the
better! Submitting your application before March 31 may
increase your financial aid opportunities. Check with
your school for application deadlines.
For more information on
the events, please call the Austin Chamber info line at
512.322.5696 or visit www.collegereadyaustin.com.
Thank you,
Jackie H.Young
