Black History Writing Contest
In conjunction with RRISD's Black History Celebration, the District and the Voice are sponsoring a Black History Writing contest for students in grades K-12.
Students will have the opportunity to research black women and their journey to excellence and create a product to accompany their research. Student products can include research paper or prose, slide show presentation, poetry, video or drawing (K-2nd only). Please follow the rubric and fill out the entry form to turn into your teacher. Entries will be due to Tina Melcher on February 8, 2012 by 5:00 PM. Students with winning products will be recognized during the Black History Celebration on February 25 at the Performing Arts Center and given the opportunity to display and/or share their research. Cash prizes will be awarded to each category winner. For more information, please contact Laura Segers, Director of State and Federal Programs (464-5466) or Tina Melcher, Lead Curriculum Specialist K-12 Social Studies (464-5632).
