Librarian -
Mrs. Marshall
Mrs. Marshall
taught school for 19 years before coming to LME as the librarian eight
years ago. She holds a BS in Elementary Education, an MEd. in
Curriculum and Instruction, and Certification in Library and
Information Science.
After teaching
school in Lithuania in 1993-94, she began a quest to see the world,
spending her summers traveling to various countries. In 2001,
she visited Uganda and spent time at different schools. That was the
beginning of Libraries of Love, a nonprofit organization, of which she
serves as the Executive Director. Libraries of Love now has thirteen libraries in Uganda serving over
21,500 students. The Laurel
Mountain community has been instrumental in partnering with Libraries
of Love to make the libraries a reality.
The accordion
can be heard in the halls of LME Friday mornings as students walk to
their classes. Mrs. Marshall also uses music to teach various library
skills such as the Dewey Decimal System.
Mrs. Marshall
loves her position as librarian at Laurel Mountain Elementary! She
wants the students, staff, and parents to visit the library as often as
possible.
