Parent Support Specialist
The Parent Support Specialist at Fern Bluff
Elementary supports parents and helps them become part of their
children’s education. Research shows that when parents become
involved students earn higher grades, have increased motivation, more
self-esteem and better school attendance.
Support is available for parents in several forms:
* Help finding volunteer opportunities and becoming comfortable on
campus.
* Parenting workshops and programs, including: Watch DOGS, Love &
Logic, Multicultural Night, Insiders Guide to 6th Grade, RRISD Parent
Summit, specific Support Groups, etc…
* Parent Resource Room- includes a play area for toddlers, a
library of parenting books, and a listing of community resources, as
well as volunteer opportunities and PTA information.
* Personal appointments to offer information on assistance with utility
bills, groceries, holiday programs, mental health counseling, parenting
classes, ESL classes, medical care, and more.
